Description
Philodendron Black Cardinal Variegated #1 is a striking variegated form of Philodendron Black Cardinal, known for its broad, thick foliage, dark green colouring and deep reddish-purple stems. This specimen displays a strong combination of dark green, yellow-green and creamy yellow variegation, with each leaf showing its own irregular pattern.
This #1 specimen has several large, mature leaves with varied patterns across the foliage. The upper leaves show broad areas of dark green alongside yellow and cream variegation, while the large front leaf has an especially distinctive pattern of wide yellow-green sections interrupted by irregular deep green areas. The lower leaves also show strong variegation, ranging from predominantly yellow-green areas to bold green patches and streaks.
The plant has a compact but open growth form, with the large leaves spreading outward from the centre. The contrasting red to burgundy petioles and emerging foliage add another layer of colour to the plant, particularly against the darker mature leaves.
Philodendron Black Cardinal Variegated makes a strong feature plant for an indoor setting or a sheltered outdoor area. As it continues to grow, new leaves can develop different proportions and patterns of green and variegation, making each new leaf part of the plant’s changing appearance.
